Something I learned

Something I learned
This week, I have learned a lot of knowledge from my classes, such as: Science class, ELL class and History class. In the Science class, I learned how to build a trebuchet as a teamwork. In my ELL class, I learned how to find facts or opinions in a passage. In my history class, I learned the time period of Renaissance. But in this Blog, I will tell you what I learned in my Algebra class.
During Monday’s class, Mr. Mitchell gave us a very interesting question: 1888, 2777, 3666, 4555, 6444. Which number is the greatest one? When I saw this question, I tried to use my calculator to calculate each of these numbers and then compare which one is the greatest, but these numbers are all very big numbers except 1888 equal to1.The calculator had trouble to calculate this type of numbers, so I couldn’t find any ways to solve this question.
After we tried this question, some of my classmates guessed the greatest number is 2777, some of them guessed 6444. Next, Mr. Mitchell said that we need to find a way to solve it, but not guess it. So he wrote three rules of math that could help us to solve this question. First is the common-base principle of multiplication: bm•bn=bm+n; Second one is the common-base principle of division: bm/bn=bm-n; Third is to rewrite a number as bmn= (bm) n.
After he wrote these three rules on the board, I knew how to do that question. I just used the third rule to rewrite each number to 1888= (18)111, 2777= (27)111, 3666= (36)111, 4555= (45)111, 6444= (64)111. If we did this, we just needed to compare 18, 27, 36, 45, 64, and find which number is the greatest. Finally, I found 64=1296 is the greatest, it means 6444 is the greatest.
If my Algebra teacher Mr. Mitchell did not teach us three rules of this type of question, I would never know how to solve it, but luckily he did. That was what I learned this week.
(I feel like I am writing my math journal, but this is really my English Blog.) -haha-

Spring Break!

Spring Break
This spring break I spent most of the days in the Universal Studio Orlando, FL and spent 2 days in Nashville, TN. I did a lot of interesting things during the break, I really enjoy this trip. There are several things I did this spring break.
First, I watched the Blue man Group Show. This is a show about three aliens, their whole body was blue. They had a lot of skills to make you happy, such as: they can eat and put at least twenty cotton candies in their mouse, they can play music by beating the pipe, and they can perform with audience and make the audience very embarrassed. I think this show was really excited and made me really happy. Mrs.Berzinskas lost her voice by cheering for the Blueman Group, that was really funny
SecondI went to the Wizard World of Harry Potter, I went into the Hogwarts Castle, it was so magnificent. I took a tour of the castle, I saw a lot of things that in the movie and took a ride with 4D roller coaster. It was really fun, it just like I went into the movie and played with Harry Potter and had adventure with these wizards. I was very impressed by the Harry Potter ride in the Island of Adventure.
Third, I drank the butter beer in the Universal Studio. Butter beer is not real beer, it is just soda with sweet butter, but it is the beverage in the Harry Potter book and the movie. I drank the same beverage with Harry Potter and his friends, that was so good and it tasted very sweet. I really liked it.
Forth, I took the Mummy ride in the New York area in the Universal Studio. It was a very fast roller coaster. It was so scary and the insects in it were very disgusting. It made me almost cried!
Fifth, I went to the King Kong-Skull Island tour in the Universal Studio. The tour was like you went into a cave in the Skull Island and wore 3D goggles, you would see a lot of unique things, such as: strange insects, huge bats, and extinct dinosaur. The most important was the King Kong would protect you and fought with these species and helped you to leave the island. This tour was made by the movie King Kong and the Universal Company. Also, the line for the tour of the King Kong-Skull Island in the Universal Studio was the longest, people always spent about 60 minutes for waiting it. It showed you how popular the tour was.
Sixth, I watched a movie named Get Out. It is a scary movie about the white people and the Black people. The movie was so good, it was not only a really scary movie, but the performance of all the actors and actresses made the movie felt scary and attracted me. I think if you have time, you need to watch this movie.
Seventh, I celebrated my best friends Nicole Xing and Nathan Xing’s Birthday. They are 13 years old this year. Theirs birthday was on April 2rd, I sang birthday song and ate birthday cake. I wish they can be healthy, happy every day and everything they dreamed will become true!
Eighth, I went to the biggest mall in Nashville. The mall included a lot of famous shops, such as Under Armor, Adidas, Nike and so on. I bought a lot of nice clothes in the mall.
Ninth, I went to the Escape Game in Murfreesboro, TN. My friends and I had a really good time in the Escape room. The game we played was about we went into a famous detective’s office which was on the Baker Street in London. We needed to find a lot of details, solve a lot of puzzles and find the way how to escape from the office, but we only had 60 minutes. We spent about 59 minutes to find the keys and details. At the last 30 second, we escaped from the room. That was my second time to play Escape Game and that was the first time to escape from an escape room (First time I almost escaped, but not).
Last, I watched the National soccer Derby in China between the Beijing Guoan Football Club and the Shanghai Shenhua Football Club. My favorite team is the Shanghai Shenhua Football Club. It was a really exciting game, but because of the referee named Ma Ning, he made plenty of mistakes during the game, like: he didn’t give our team a penalty, he didn’t give a player in Beijing team a red card, and Beijing’s goal was a foul but he didn’t point it out. So my team lost 1:2. I was a little bit sad and very angry.

That was the things that happened of me for this spring break.
