       St. Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, Saint Patrick's Day is also a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland.

       Today's St Patrick's Day celebrations have been greatly influenced by those that developed among the Irish diaspora, especially in North America. Until the late 20th century, St Patrick's Day was often a bigger celebration among the diaspora than it was in Ireland. So how the people in this area celebrate this big and famous festival?

       First, people wear of the green to celebrate because St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock (a three-leaved plant), people believe that the shamrock can make them lucky.

       Second, people are formal gatherings such as banquets and dances, although these were more common in the past. Especially they like to sing Irish traditional song and dance.

       I never know this festival, because people in China never celebrate this festival. When I research some information about this festival, I think the festival is quite interesting.

       At last, I want to say although people in China don’t celebrate the festival, the people in China knows a lot of the three-leaved plant. This is the first time I know the three-leaved plant is from this story. I learned a lot about this festival.

I am Nicky Dai. There are a lot of things you don’t know about me. So, here I have about 10 examples for the things you probably don't know about me.

      First, my favorite soccer team. Most of the students in our school think my favorite soccer team is FC Barcelona, because Lionel Messi, Luiz Suarez and Neymar Jr. are in the team. But actually, my favorite soccer team is Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, because this is my home team. Also, there are a lot of soccer stars, such as: Demba Ba, Freddy Guarin and Giovani Moreno and so on.

      The second things people do not know about me is my birthday and the year I born. Almost all the eighth graders were born in 2003, so they think the year I born was also 2003. But, they don’t know I am older than them. I born in 2002, and my birthday is July 17^th.

      Third, my favorite teacher in the Webb School is Mr. Jeff Mitchell and my favorite subject is Algebra. Maybe you think my favorite teacher is Mr. A.J Swafford and my favorite is Science. Although Mr. A.J Swafford is very nice to me, Mr. Jeff Mitchell helps me a lot on my Math Project and Math Test, so I did well on my Algebra and I got an A on it. That’s why I like him and the subject.

      Forth, I have two pet dogs. One is brown and other one is white. They are very cute and naughty. They were all born in 2011. So they are all five years old. The brown one’s birthday is September 23^rd, and the white one’s birthday is November 25^th.

      Fifth, my favorite movie is Lost in Thailand. This movie is a Chinese movie, it is directed by Xu Zheng. It is about a very funny trip for 3 people and the funny things they did during the trip in Thailand.

      Sixth, I have no brothers and sisters. But I have 5 cousins, because my parents have a lot of brother and sisters.

      Seventh, my favorite drinking water is FIJI. Although some of my friends in Cooper Farris (my dorm) think my favorite water is Voss, I think the FIJI water is very tasty and fresh. So it is expensive, but it is cheaper here than in China.

      Eighth, I have a lot of friends in the Webb School. My best Chinese friend is Nathan Xing, and my best American friend is Hadley Foulk.

      Ninth, I have a lot of nicknames. For example, “the most handsome guy in the Webb school”, “Chinese Justin Bieber”, “Mickey Mouse”, “Nicky Pig” and so on.

      Tenth, I think Hearth Stone is my favorite video game, because it is a very exciting and interesting card game.

       There are a lot of beneficial discovery in China, such as: Yuan Longping discovered hybrid rice, Tu Youyou discovered artemisinin and so on. I think the beneficial discovery in China was Qian Xuesen and Deng Jiaxian discovered and made the atomic bomb, It was the most important thing in the last 100 years of China, It told the world that China became a strong and big country.

       In the 1960’s, because of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States, China became not safe, because these two countries thought China was not a very strong and powerful country, so they want use China to attack each other, so at that time, the president of China, called Mao Zedong wanted all the scientists to discover a new type of guided missile, so the leader of the scientists called Qian Xuesen and Deng Jiaxian found a lot of things and do a lot of experiments. In 1964, they discovered the first atomic bomb in China. Because of that, China became the third country who had the atomic bomb, the first and second were the United States and the Soviet Union. It showed the world: China became stronger, some super country couldn’t threat China.

       That’s why the atomic bomb was a beneficial discovery in China.

    I have a lot of  favorite things about fall. I have several reasons.
    First is the weather. The weather in fall is very cool, and people feel very comfortable. People can play many sports outside: soccer, baseball, and so on. In fall, leaves on the trees turn red. They become very beautiful and begin to fall down. The streets are very beautiful,too.
    Second is the fall festival. In the fall, we have a lot of festivals, such as Halloween and Thanksgiving Day. During Thanksgiving Day, I will go to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I will see an NBA match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Worriors, I will see my favorite player:Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and so on. I an so happy about that.
    That’s why I like fall.

What if cows gave root beer instead of milk？

Now, people from all over the world like to drink milk. They think milk is very healthy, because milk has a lot of protein and calcium, it gives people enough energy. It is also good for people’s growth, because it makes people’s bones stronger and stronger. So parents always let their children to drink milk. Some people drink milk more than water.

But, can you imagine that if the cows can only give our root beer to drink, they can’t give our milk because the water pollution after ten years. At that time, milk will disappear, people can only drink root beer. Root beer has a lot of sugar and butter inside, it’s very unhealthy. If people at that time always drink root beer, I think their body will get worse and worse. Finally, they will die.

So without milk, only drink the root beer, people can not alive.

   

A Habit

A Habit

A habit is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously, so habit is something that people need to do every day. Everyone has some habits. For example, in the dormitory (Cooper Farries), Nathan Xing’s habit is playing games in Nicky Dai’s room, Leon’s habit is going to Davis to find his girlfriend, Jordan Jenkins’s habit is that he never flushes the bathroom. My habit is taking photos for myself every day.

Some persons, like Nicole Xing, Scarlett Liu asked me why I take photos for myself, they think that the habit is only for girls. But I say that I am very handsome, soI like to take photos with me.

I always take picture after I finish some works or after shower, I think that I can remember that forever, I never forget the things I have done. Although some girls and my friends don’t agree with me about that, I think when I do that, I can know my mood every day, that’s why l always use my phone to take pictures.

That’s my habit, an interesting habit and a very strange habit.
